1/72 G.222 "Panda" / C-27 A "Chuck"

The twin-engines Aeritalia G-222 was designed, during the late '60s, by the aeronautical engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli. Gabrielli has been the father of an impressive number of military aircraft's: from the Second World War fighters Fiat G-50 and G-55 to jet Fiat G-91. The G-222 has been created for a specific need of the Italian Air Force: to have a tactical transport aircraft, smaller than the four-engines Locheed C-130 Hercules, able to take off and land on very short and not prepared airstrips. The first flight took place in 1970 and from the mid-'70s, it was assigned to the flight departments. Thanks to two turbo propellers engines, the aircraft is able to reach the speed of 480 km / h. It also has an excellent handling and manoeuvrability even at full load. The Italian 46.ma Brigata Aerea located in Pisa was the main user of the G-222. From 2005 it has been progressively replaced , by the more modern C-27J Spartan.

1/48 Mirage lll CJ Aces

Most of Israeli pilots that have achieved the “aces” qualification were in service from the 60s, participating in the “Six-day war” in 1967 and in the aerial battles which followed in 1969-70, culminating in the “Yom Kippur war” of 1973, with the Mirage III fighter plane. Many of them remained in service moving on to other types of aircrafts which progressively were handed to the units: F-4 Phantom, Nesher and then F-16. This box is dedicated to some of these pilots that achieved part of their victories with the Mirage III between 1967 and 1973. Most of these pilots belonged to the 101st Squadron, which at the time of the 1967 War was the elite unit of Israeli aviation.

1/10 Leonardo Da Vinci Spingarda a Mantello

Among the several war machines designed by Leonardo, there are true pieces of artillery such as spingardes. The drawings on the 32r sheet of the Atlantic code hide ingenious insights for that age and represent two different versions of the spingardes. The first was mounted on a tripod and held with wooden pegs along a perforated ring; this solution allowed varying the height of the shot and was designed for spingardes of large dimensions. Our model is a reproduction of the second project: a spingardes with a rotated barrel that allowed the transport of a shed or mantlet, which was intended to protect the gunner.Originally designed for the launch of stones, spingardes were then used with the invention of gunpowder to launch bullets and darts of various types. In fact, some studies related to bullets and recipes of gunpowders are represented on Leonardo's sheet.

Notwithstanding the fact, that the airplane has been in service for more than 20 years, it is still to-day considered to be a valid support aircraft for the Tornado. During the Gulf War the Jaguars have been used against the Iraqui Forces in hundreds of missions without a single loss. Many successful missions ware also carried out during the Balcan conflict.

1/72 Focke Wulf FW-190 D-9

1/72 Focke Wulf FW-190 D-9

The idea of installing a Junkers Jumo 213A engine (until then mainly used on bombers) in a Focke-Wulf 190 airframe was born of a need to improve the high altitude performance of the aircraft: the A and F versions, in fact, suffered a significant drop in speed above 7,000m. Armed with two 20mm cannon and two 13mm guns, the D-9 was immediately a favourite with pilots, who considered it an aircraft equal to the P-51 Mustang. In its secondary role as a ground strike aircraft, the Dora 9 performed excellently during Operation Bodenplatte, the “last stand” of the 3rd Reich in the Ardennes. About 650-700 D versions are thought to have been made, of which four still exist today.

1/48 Hawker Hunter FGA6/FGA9

The Hawker Hunter, which came into service in the mid-50s, was born from a specific Royal Air Force requirement, in the late 40s, highlighted the need for a jet fighter aircraft similar in terms of performance, to the American F-86 Sabre and the Soviet MiG-15. Featured by a strong structure, it was able to reach, thanks to its Rolls-Royce Avon engine, 1,150 Km/h. Heavily armed with 4 30 mm. cannons, the Hunter reached the full maturity of the project only with the version F.6 with a better engine performance, reliability and flight autonomy. Later on FGA.9 version, dedicated to ground attack duties, was introduced and featured with four pylons to carry bombs, rockets and additional fuel tanks. The Hawker Hunter was also a commercial success and was used by the air forces of many Countries.
