TAMIYA CUP 2011/12

GENERAL RACE REGULATIONS FOR ALL CLASSES (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. The entry fee per class entry will be R40 for the 2011/12 season.

2. The 2011/12 season will have 6 classes as listed below;

  • Stock Touring Class
  • FWD Touring Class
  • Mini Chassis Class
  • Formula 1 Class
  • Super Stock Class
  • 4wd GT Class

3. In Stock Touring, the top 5 drivers from the previous years regionals (not the finals) will not be allowed to enter this class again. Furthermore, drivers who have competed in two consecutive seasons, will have to sit out the following season, before being allowed to enter Stock Touring again.

4. In all classes, except Stock Touring, should the winner of a class in the 2010/11 regionals win the same class in the 2011/12 regionals, then that driver may not take part in that class for the next season.

5. Participation in a minimum of 4 out of 8 events qualifies the top three finishers to receive a regional trophy.

6. Participation in a minimum of 4 out of 8 events will earn a driver an automatic invitation to the Tamiya Cup Final.

7. Cars must be built following the instruction manual with original Tamiya parts.

8. Any cars, chassis kits, spare parts or hop-up options, which are not yet available in South Africa, will not be permitted in Tamiya Cup events. Furthermore, drivers who want to take part in Tamiya Cup events, and have cars that have not been purchased from a local agent, will have to pay an additional R100 entrance fee, over and above the normal race fee, and will not qualify for prizes.

9. All parts must be used as supplied in the box and/or cut as outlined.

10. Modifications which destroy the original form of the car are not allowed. In all classes the tyre/rim must stay within the body shell, except Formula 1.

11. Although the spares lists do not list all the parts permitted, you may use the spare parts supplied in the original kit. For all other spare parts and Hop-Up options, please refer to the separately available spares lists for each chassis type.

12. Please note that allowable spares detailed in the individual car regulations, over-rides the separately available spares list. For example – Only the 3 types of tyres listed in the Stock Touring regulations are allowed in this class.

13. Radios must be crystal interchangeable. All drivers must have a minimum of three frequencies available. 2.4GHz transmitters are allowed.

14. Tyre additives are allowed in all classes, except Stock Touring. These must be odourless and conform to the required safety standards.

15. Each race will be of 5 minutes duration, plus the time to complete the last lap.

16. Personal transponders may be used where they can be accommodated, however, the event organizer will not be held responsible for any problem that may occur as a result of their use. If there is a problem and your car is not picked up for whatever reason, the race organiser may disregard your race at their discretion.

17. Race numbers are to be handed out by the race organiser at each event and must be appear on both the front and side of the vehicle in each and every race. The race organiser may disqualify a driver from a race if their car does not reflect the number that was handed out to them.

18. Any modifications not described in the regulations are not allowed.

19. Any other issues not clarified in the regulations shall be handled at the discretion of the race organiser.

20. Motors must be from Tamiya.

21. Drivers are to use their own batteries and motors for the regional events, except for Stock Touring where motors are handed out at each event.

22. Batteries and motors will ONLY be supplied by the race organiser at the National Final event.

23. Regarding the 49***/84*** series spare parts, these are only allowed if it is the “colour” version of a spare or Hop-Up part, as listed in the Parts List.

CAR REGULATIONS FOR STOCK TOURING (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Only TL01, TT01, TT01E, TT01E R and TT01 R chassis’ are permitted in this class.

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Items 3455877 Front Prop Joint, 3455878 Rear Prop Joint and 51091 TB EvoIV Propshaft are allowed.

4. The speed controller is limited to a 3-step mechanical switch, a CPR01 electronic speed control or a TEU-101BK/TEU-104BK electronic speed control, as supplied in the original kit.

5. The motor is limited to a standard, 2-slot, Johnson 540 motor. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is not allowed.

6. Only standard stick type Ni-Cd OR Ni-Mh battery packs UP TO 3300mah are allowed (Matched packs are not allowed). No modifications to the battery wires or connectors are allowed.

7. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

8. Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,450g, without a transponder.

9. Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm before the race.

10. TL01 Speed Tuned Gear Set (53342) is allowed, up to a 19T pinion gear.

11. TT01 Spur Gear Set (53665) 55T is allowed, up to a 25T pinion gear.

12. Use of 53345 TL01 Toe-In Rear Upright and 50808 TG10 Rear Long Wheel Axle is allowed. (These parts are included in 58223 Castrol Mugen and 58244 Mercedes CLK Original Teile)

13. Tyres are limited to 50419 Celica Racing Radial Tyres, 50454 Racing Slick Tyres and 50810 Racing Semi-Slick Tyres. Please note that the TT01R and TT01E R chassis’ must also use the above tyres with 26mm wheels.

14. Tyre additives and tyre warmers are not allowed.

CAR REGULATIONS FOR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Only FF03 and FF03 Pro chassis’ are permitted in this class. (Including Pro and R chassis’ types)

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4. Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the Brushless Motor 14T (Item 54251) may only be used in conjunction with the Tamiya Brushless ESC 01 (Item 45038).

5. Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

  • 53068 – Sport Tuned Motor
  • 54251 – Brushless Motor 14T (Sensor-less)

6. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed, however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

7. ONLY the following Gear Ratios may be used in conjunction with the 14T Brushless motor (The gearing for Sport Tuned motors will remain open). Please also note that the gear cover must be used at all times.

  • Pinion 41T + Spur Gear 102T : 6.47
  • Pinion 27T + Spur Gear 68T : 6.55
  • Pinion 38T + Spur Gear 96T : 6.57
  • Pinion 40T + Spur Gear 102T : 6.63

8. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9. Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,450g, without a transponder.

10. Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm before the race.

11. You may use any Tamiya 1/10 on-road body except for the following and variations thereof. The body must fit the chassis properly and provide adequate clearance of the chassis components (especially the motor and gearbox).

CAR REGULATIONS FOR MINI (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Only M03, M04, M05 and M06 series chassis’ are permitted in this class. (Including Pro chassis’)

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4. Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the Brushless Motor 14T (Item 54251) may only be used in conjunction with the Tamiya Brushless ESC 01 (Item 45038).

5. Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

  • 53068 – Sport Tuned Motor
  • 53983 – Lightly Tuned Motor
  • 54251 – Brushless Motor 14T (Sensor-less)

6. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed, however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

7. Car does not have to retain the original wheel drive concept. Drivers can choose either FWD or RWD configurations regardless of car body. 4wd or twin motor configuration will not be allowed.

8. Speed Tuned Gear – 16, 18 and 20T pinion are allowed for the M03, M05 and M06 chassis. Up to 19T pinion is allowed for the M04 chassis, but in the case of a 26D tyre being used the pinion size is limited to a 17T.

9. Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,200g, without a transponder.

10. Clearance under main chassis to exceed 3mm before the race.

11. Only the standard differential item 53070, and the ball differential item 53267 or item 54194, can be used, and must be built as per the instructions using Tamiya lubricants only.

12. The tyre size in the front and rear must be the same. The usable tyres are as follows;

M03, M03L, M04M, M05 and M06:

  • 50683 M-Chassis 60D Radial Tyres
  • 50684 M-Chassis 60D M-Grip Tyres
  • 53254 M-Chassis 60D Super Grip Radial Tyres
  • 53340 M-Chassis 60D Re-Inforced Tyres Type A
  • 54216 M-Chassis 60D Re-Inforced Tyres Type B

M04L:

  • 50419 Celica Racing Radial Tyres
  • 50454 Racing Slick Tyres
  • 50810 Racing Semi-Slick Tyres
  • 53214 Super Grip Radial Tyres
  • 53227 M2 Radial Tyres

CAR REGULATIONS FOR FORMULA 1 (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Only F103, F104, F104 Pro and F104W chassis’ are permitted in this class. Please note that the F103 and F104W utilizes F103 spares the availability of which can not be guaranteed.

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4. Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the Brushless Motor 18T (Item 54181) may only be used in conjunction with the Tamiya Brushless ESC 01 (Item 45038).

5. Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

  • 53689 – 540-J Motor
  • 53068 – Sport Tuned Motor
  • 53983 – Lightly Tuned Motor
  • 54181 – Brushless Motor 18T (Sensor-less)

6. Only the following Gear Ratios may be used.

  • Pinion 25T + Spur Gear 93T (04 Module)
  • Pinion 17T + Spur Gear 63T (06 Module)

7. Only the following rubber tyres will be allowed (foam tyres will not be allowed);

  • 51399 F104 Front Rubber Tyres
  • 51400 F104 Rear Rubber Tyres
  • 54198 F104 Rubber Tyres Front (Hard)
  • 54199 F104 Rubber Tyres Rear (Soft)

8. Driver figure must be used for Formula-1 car. Modifications which alter the form of the original car are not allowed.

9. Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,150g, without a transponder.

10. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 3mm before the race.



TAMIYA CUP 2011/12

CAR REGULATIONS FOR SUPER STOCK (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Cars eligible for qualification are TA06, TA05, TA05IFS, TA05 Ver.2, TT01, TT01E, TB02, and TB03 (Including Pro and R chassis’ types).(TA05MS chassis and parts designed only for TA05MS can not be used).

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4. Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the Brushless Motor 12T may only be used in conjunction with the Tamiya Brushless ESC 01 (Item 45038).

5. Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

  • 53696 – Super Stock Motor Type TZ
  • 53697 – Super Stock Motor Type RZ
  • 53930 – Super Stock Motor Type BZ
  • 54132 – Brushless Motor 12T (Sensor-less)

6. Motor brushes, if applicable, must be from Tamiya.

7. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

8. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,400g without a transponder.

10. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 5mm before the race.

11. The Subaru Legacy B4 Body and it’s variants are NOT allowed in this class.



TAMIYA CUP 2011/12

CAR REGULATIONS FOR 4WD GT (GAUTENG ONLY)



1. Cars eligible for qualification TA06, TA05, TA05IFS, TA05MS, TA05 Ver.2, TT01, TT01E, TB02, TB03, TB Evo Series, TRF415 series, TRF416 and TRF417 series. (Including Pro and R chassis’ types).

2. Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3. Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm.

4. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

5. Any Tamiya 540 size motor is allowed up to and including the 7.5T Brushless motor Item No. 42126 or Transpeed Brushless Octa-Wind 7.5T motor Item No. 42189. The motor will NOT be supplied by the race organiser at the Final event.

6. Motor brushes, if applicable, must be from Tamiya.

7. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

8. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,400g.
